Event Lead
Reports to Event Coordinator & Event Managers
Summary: We are in search of a Full Time Event Lead to join the events team at Novelty Hill-Januik winery! The Event Leads are responsible for managing and executing individual events at the Winery to the highest standards. This includes onsite management of all assigned events, including setup, service, breakdown, and re-set, managing Event Staff, and ensuring flawless guest experience throughout. The current open role is full time with a starting rate of $20 per hour. Service Charge is paid out bi-weekly based on hours worked. An estimated hourly rate to equate to $25-$27 per hour including service charge. Additional benefits include health insurance, monthly wine allocation, and ability of growth within the department.
Duties:
- Coordinate and execute all aspects of the room set-up, food and beverage service, breakdown and re-set for events assigned by the Event Coordinator.
- Includes hands-on participation and often solely responsible for setting tables, chairs and equipment.
- Role includes remaining onsite until conclusion of event and tear-down.
- Management of event staff, including assigning tasks, managing lunch and rest breaks, and ensuring staff have accurate instructions.
- Manage catering assets and ensure cleanliness, organization, and inventory of all catering assets.
- Act as liaison and knowledgeable winery representative to event clients, retail guests and vendors.
- Understanding of a Banquet Event Order with complete and competent follow-through.
- Large-scale furniture and buffet setup/breakdown.
- Fine dining service to include linen, flatware, and glassware placement, sequence of service, and best practices.
- Ability to expedite large plated dinners.
- Must keep a broad vision of overall event needs to include set-up priorities, bussing tables, flipping, and clearing rooms when appropriate.
- Ideal candidate will naturally deal with high stress situations in a calm, professional manner and remain flexible and resourceful when faced with uncertainty.
- Must be responsible, willing to work hard, and have a “whatever it takes” attitude.
- Encouraged to present new ideas and projects to the Event Coordinator to enhance winery and guest experiences.
Requirements:
- At least one-year hands-on experience in catering, food and beverage service, or general event operations.
- Full availability for daytime, evening and weekend events year-round.
- Previous experience with managing a team of direct reports.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs and remain standing for long periods of time.
- Knowledge and interest in wine is helpful but not required.
