Join us as ....Department Manager- Fermentation Physiology

The employee will manage a team of Fermentation Physiology scientists as part of the Microbe Research RTP leadership team. Fermentation Physiology bridges Discovery to Development for Microbials

Microbe Research RTP combines expertise in microbial discovery, characterization, physiology, and lab operations to find sustainable microbial solutions across industries. Through cutting-edge imaging, genomics, & fermentation technologies, we develop the insights that drive robust application performance. We focus on customer needs, collaborating closely with Application Research to bring impactful microbial solutions to Development.

In this role you'll make an impact by:

• Leading a team of scientists and delivering results in Microbial Physiology, Fermentation, Microbial Screening, and Research Cell Banking

• Developing your team through coaching, engagement, and talent development

• Contributing to organizational and strategic development in R&D

• Managing technology-driven innovation projects, including collaboration with global colleagues and industry partners

• Ensuring a culture of safety, quality, and innovation with a focus on customer needs

• Delivering data-driven scientific decisions with best practice for data management

• Building external connections to understand industry trends and translate needs into technology focus areas

To succeed you must hold:

• BS Biological Engineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field and 10 years; MS and 8 years or PhD and 5 years related industry experience

• Experience leading an empowered, cross-disciplinary problem-solving team of 9

• Experience with new microbial product discovery and development in an industry environment

• Technical expertise in microbial physiology, fermentation, microbial screening, or development & scale-up

• Experience with Yeast and Bacillus physiology & fermentation is preferred

• A mindset that embraces challenging science, recognizes change as an opportunity, and finds satisfaction in team success

• Strong written and oral communication skills

Location: (On-site with some flexibility) Morrisville, NC

Expected Salary Range: $140,000-160,000
