Job Title: Nuclear Engineer- Materials Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY
NRD, LLC is seeking to hire a Waste Systems Operator to join our team. In this role, you will have a wide variety of Support Systems and waste management responsibilities to support Operations at the facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.
- Operate machinery to dispose of liquid and solid waste, including pumps, Reverse Osmosis water treatment units, Shredders and Compactors
- Tag operational trash with proper labels for disposal
- Respond to hazard waste cleanup and fluid spills
- Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks, pallet jacks or forklifts.
- Prepare hazardous material for removal or storage.
- Build containment areas prior to beginning abatement or decontamination work.
- Clean, monitor and provide general maintenance on all instruments and machinery
- Prepare reports and document
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies
- Notify supervisor of any major repairs needed while inspecting
- Follow all safety rules and regulations
- Able to become involved in other operational duties
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Health Physics.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a US Citizen
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years relevant experience in hazardous waste disposal
- Ability to work independently and work collaborative with others
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while maintaining high-quality standards..
Preferred but not Mandatory
- Prior experience with radioactive materials
- Forklift certified
Salary Range
$18.00 - $28.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.
- Entry-level candidates with strong foundational skills and a willingness to learn can expect offers starting at the lower end of the range.
- Experienced professionals with specialized experience in hazardous materials waste disposal may be offered compensation toward the upper end.
Final compensation will be determined by experience, skills, and overall alignment with the role.
