Reports to the Day Laboratory Supervisor
The Technical Services Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing support to the Day Lab performing routine preventative maintenance on lab instrumentation, working with outside vendors for repair of lab equipment, and general maintenance on laboratory buildings
This individual will work with a team of senior development technicians and provide support to the Technical Services QC Lab and Process Development Department.
What you will do:
Maintenance duties include but are not limited to, conducting periodic and routine inspections of laboratory equipment, and assisting with repairs of instruments, safety systems (showers, eye wash stations, fire extinguishers, alarms), HVAC, air compressors, plumbing, vacuum pumps, etc.- Updating and maintaining Instrument Maintenance Logs for all Laboratory instrumentation.
- Serving as a maintenance and technical resource for the Day Lab and updating Instrument Tracking Reports (ITRs).
- Issuing work orders for general building repairs that cannot be performed by laboratory maintenance.
- Assisting other maintenance departments with repairs being performed at laboratory buildings.
- Contacting vendors regarding building maintenance, and on occasion lab equipment maintenance.
- Issuing work permits for vendors performing repairs at laboratory sites.
- Internal ordering for items needed to maintain laboratory buildings and maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies.
- assisting the Tech Services Department with custom fabrications need for process development studies.
- Performing hazardous waste collection and transferring hazardous wastes to their designated satellite accumulation areas.
- Performs maintenance on various instrumentation, including routine calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and stocking of reagents.
- Keep track of laboratory supplies by performing audits and updating inventory sheets
- Performs both routine and non-routine sample analysis using a variety of laboratory instrumentation and methods, entering results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Responds to requests for priority assays submitted by the Process Development and Engineering teams.
- Assist in analysis both routine and non-routine samples and coordinate sample analysis with outside laboratories.
- Performs statistical quality control charting.
- Follows all site safety and environmental procedure.
- Ensure secondary containment is empty.
What you will bring:
Experience: High School Diploma, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience - maintenance/building trades- Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills
- A high-degree of integrity and personal responsibility.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Work experience in a chemical plant, refinery, or other processing or manufacturing industry preferred.
- Must be able to wear necessary, company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE)-i.e., uniforms, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, emergency breathing apparatus
- The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 5 on Workplace Documents in order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien

Benefits:
Starting rate $29.50 - $31.50 per hour (plus available overtime).
Nutrien offers a skills based pay compensation program. Hourly rates can progresses based on On-Job-Training, formal learning, and observation of new skills.
