Job Summary:
A Janitor is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the cleanliness of buildings, facilities, and public spaces. This role plays a crucial part in creating a safe and pleasant environment for occupants and visitors.
Education: GED
Experience: 1-2 years preferred
Skills Required:
- Cleaning Expertise: Proficient in various cleaning tasks and techniques.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in cleaning and maintaining spaces.
- Time Management: Efficient time management for completing cleaning tasks within schedules.
- Safety Awareness: Adherence to safety protocols when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Organization: Ability to organize and maintain a well-kept and orderly environment.
- Communication: Clear communication for reporting maintenance or safety issues.
- Equipment Operation: Competence in using and maintaining cleaning tools and equipment.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical skills to address cleaning-related challenges.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing cleaning requirements and priorities.
- Team Collaboration: Collaboration with other janitors or maintenance personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, and shampoo carpets as needed.
- Empty trash cans and dispose of waste properly.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms and restock supplies.
- Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, such as changing light bulbs.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in working order.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to management for prompt resolution.
- Respond to cleaning emergencies and requests in a timely manner.
- Be able to lift up to 15lb.
- Walk upstairs if necessary.
- Employees are required to be available to escort subcontractors and/or management as necessary, and promptly respond to inquiries from both supervisors and subcontractors.
- Travel if needed or upon supervisor’s request.
