NY Firefighters Heart and Lung is looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our team!
Front Desk Roles:
- Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors politely, whether in person or over the phone.
- Maintains a polite and consistent phone manner using pleasant telephone etiquette.
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient information, including personal and financial details, during the check-in process.
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying Medical Assistants of patient arrival, being aware of delays, and clearly communicating status with patients and clinical staff.
- Handling correspondence, billing, and scanning of patient's files
- Preparing documents for billing, which includes scanning them and submitting them
- Collects and posts payments, collects patient balances, and maintains cash receipts. Reports this activity appropriately to our billing department.
- Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, notifying managers of anything that needs to be replenished.
- Protects patient confidentiality by ensuring protected health information is secured, not visible to other patients, and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
- Maintains clear and timely written and verbal communications between the patient and provider via phone or EMR.
- Relays information clearly to the patient on preparation for appointments, lab tests, procedures, and referrals.
- Keeps the reception area clean, organized, and ready at the start of each working day.
- Performs all other clerical duties as assigned by NY Firefighters Heart and Lung.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
