Construction Estimator
O’Brien Construction, Inc. is an established Commercial General Contractor with a solid reputation. We are currently seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate must be able to:
- Assist Project Managers with overseeing budgeting, scheduling, and other managerial aspects of the project.
- Create bid lists for required scope in various locations throughout the U.S.
- Review, organize, prepare and distribute RFP’s for subcontractor bids.
- Review quantity take-offs to verify, compare and evaluate subcontractor quotes.
- Prepare RFI’s, clarify scope and secure subcontractor pricing.
- Compile subcontractor estimates for a complete General Construction bid.
- Interact with company representatives and clients to direct project implementation.
- Prepare cost estimates and bids for all projects.
- Specific Job responsibilities include:
- Issuing bid invitations, documents, and addenda.
- Preparing general conditions budget.
- Preparing hard bid estimates for private projects.
- Preparing take-offs for materials when necessary.
- Preparing qualification / clarification statements for all estimates.
- Working with the Project Manager to create scopes of work and review bids
- Attending pre-bid meetings.
- Managing bid RFI's.
- Consulting with industry experts and product representatives to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
- Scheduling and leading project turn-over meetings with the Project Manager.
The successful candidate must:
- Be professional, quality oriented, and well-organized.
- Be able to read, understand and implement blueprints and specifications.
- Have experience in conceptual and hard bid estimating.
- Have the ability to estimate multiple projects at the same time.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Be able to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Be able to utilize construction industry websites for documentation delivery.
- Possess estimating software experience and understand CSI cost codes.
- Have computer knowledge- including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
- Have construction education and / or background.
- Have excellent negotiation skills.
- Be able to follow through and complete assigned duties thoroughly and according to schedule.
