The Fitness Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the fitness department, related programs and special events. The Fitness Manager will directly supervise all fitness program staff, group fitness instructors, and personal trainers. The Fitness Manager is required to maintain the fitness center which includes all fitness equipment in the workout area as well as the exercise studios.
The Fitness Manager directly reports to Superintendent of Facilities. The personal trainers, group fitness and fitness program instructors report directly to the Fitness Manager.
HOURS:
The Fitness Manager is a full-time position working a minimum of 40 hours per week. Scheduled hours vary and are determined based on program and facility needs. This position may require night and weekend work, and the work hours will need to be adjusted accordingly.
Education, Experience & Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Parks and Recreation, Fitness Management, Exercise Science or equivalent experience in the fitness industry.
- A minimum of three (3) years customer service and supervisory experience. Experience with fitness/facility management preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years program development/management experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft software products.
- Valid Illinois Driver's License
- Current CPR/AED first aid certification or training provided by the Park District.
- Current certifications: Certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Certification with industry/nationally recognized organizations.
