What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Instructor position at Oak Brook Park District?
Please note that this position has a start date of September 2024 due to the facility's annual maintenance and shutdown. This position requires attendance of In-service Training September 11-15, with specific details to follow.
Teaching children the lifelong skill of swimming, is not only important, but also rewarding.
The Family Aquatic Center Swim Instructor position is responsible for performing a variety of duties. Swim Instructors are responsible for the fulfillment of an efficient job in these areas: communicating with management and parents, maintaining a safe environment in the pool before, after, and during lessons, coming prepared for lessons and ready to teach. Swim Instructors also aid in the cleaning of the pool and surrounding areas, before and after swim lessons.
Skills and Qualifications
• Be in good physical condition, be dependable, alert, enthusiastic, and be able to deal with persons of all ages in a positive and tactful manner.
• Knowledge of water safety
• Must be 16 years of age or 15 years of age with a work permit
• Water Safety Instructor Certified (preferred)
• Swimming or teaching experience
