Oak Ridge Winery is a family owned and operated winery that strives to be a leader in the wine industry and to work with exceptional people who share our values. We produce many well-known brands from our family vineyards and purchased grapes from the Lodi appellation and beyond.

Additional Compensation: Commission on Barrel Club sign ups and meeting sales goals.

Job purpose

This full- time position is responsible for supporting the Tasting Room Manager in training, supervising and mentoring the Tasting Room staff. The Tasting Room Lead will also work with the Tasting Room Manager to plan events, maintain inventory, and oversee the daily opening and closing procedures for the Tasting Room.

Duties and responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Support Tasting Room Manager to train, supervise and mentor staff
  • Assist with inventory reporting on non-wine related products such as merchandise
  • Oversee Barrel Club member contact information regarding credit card and account information
  • Work with Tasting Room Manager and staff to ensure all wine sale shipments are processed
  • Work with Wine Club Coordinator to maintain accurate billing for wine club shipments and wine orders
  • Undertake various hospitality duties such as VIP hosting, assisting with club and private events
  • Assist Tasting Room Manager with the planning and execution of special events, including but not limited to;

Set up and breakdown

Promoting wine club and special promotions

  • Assist Tasting Room Manager with merchandise displays and decorations
  • Required to work all special events on-site and off-site
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards
  • Conducting daily opening and closing procedures as outlined in Tasting Room Manual
  • Maintain all inventory items and pricing
  • Assist Tasting Room Manager with maintaining accurate vintages and inventory items in POS
  • Cover tasting room staff for meal and break periods
  • Responsible for notifying Tasting Room Manager when merchandise is low and needs to be re-ordered
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining kegs and wine slushy machines
  • Other duties assigned by Management

QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma/GEDExperience: 2 years preferred in Sales with progressively increased responsibilities

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong knowledge of and enthusiasm for wine and the wine industry
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to assume leadership role
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule with extended shifts, Holidays and weekends

Working conditions

This job requires regular weekend hours, holidays, dealing with challenging customers on a daily basis, being called in with little or no warning, and covering shifts if staff calls in sick.

Physical requirements

This job requires standing for extended periods of time, lifting cases of wine on a regular basis, bending, stooping, and pouring. At times sitting for periods of time looking at a computer screen.
