Overview

Stagehands are hourly paid positions, according to job assignments (ex: hands, riggers, loaders, runners),that are subject to collectively bargained union rules. Stagehands are referents of IATSE Local 142 union and are subject to pay referral dues via payroll automatic deduction. 

This role will pay an hourly wage of  $12.00 - $50.00

About the Venue

The Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center anchors lively downtown Mobile, Alabama, a city that offers world-class accommodations, retail shops, restaurants, museums, parks and art galleries. The 317,000-square-foot facility features 16 meeting rooms, two ballrooms and two exhibit halls that total 100,000 square feet.  Covered walkways and crosswalks to nearby hotels give attendees the ultimate in convenience, with downtown dining, nightlife, shopping and sightseeing just minutes away. Winner of numerous architectural awards, the Mobile Convention Center takes full advantage of an exclusive waterfront setting. The striking exterior incorporates outdoor terraces on three sides of the venue, while the expansive windows – more than 45,000 square feet of exterior glass – afford magnificent views of the historic Mobile River from three levels. 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting with the assembling, disassembling and operation of stage equipment during production. 
• Load and unload props and materials from truck dock. 
• Set up lighting, props, and microphones. 
• Move and rearrange furniture. 

• Set up risers and musical equipment. 
• Clean up stage and backstage area before and after performances. 
• Report to the Union Steward upon arrival to work for an event. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• General knowledge and experience in proper handling of all components of theatrical and entertainment tools, equipment, and systems 
• Physical ability to lift and carry heavy loads, walk, stand, sit, crouch, bend, stretch and reach. 
• Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
