What You'll Do as an Outpatient Nurse:
Primary responsibilities include:
- Collecting data regarding a client’s mental and physical health status
- Assessing clients prior to a face-to-face session with the psychiatrist/NP
- Providing health education, somatic therapies, medication and crisis intervention
- Responding to medication calls and administering medicines
- Reporting adverse drug reactions to physician and pharmacist
- Managing and securely storing medications and samples
- Interviewing patients and completing Medicaid and SSI Disability evaluations in a timely manner
- Documenting all necessary information in patient charts
- Other duties as assigned
You’ll enjoy a balance of:
- Therapeutic communication: Establish rapport and engage clients on their treatment progress or concerns
- Direct patient care: Taking vitals, administering injections, providing education
- Assessment and referrals: Conduct assessments on mental health status, risk and function and make referrals as needed Care coordination:
- Work with external providers, helping patients access healthcare and resources
- Documentation: Keep an accurate and timely record of services and interactions in the electronic health record

What populations will I serve?
- Outpatient nurses work with children, adolescents and adults receiving treatment for mental health or substance use issues at our campuses in Goshen, Elkhart or South Bend.

What schedule will I work?
- Office hours are primarily 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, with flexibility for some evening work if desired.
Minimum hiring requirements:
- Current Indiana RN/LPN license
- Two years of post-degree psychiatric experience in a similar position preferred
