Oakwood City School District has an immediate opening for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist. Oakwood City School District has approximately 250 employees and 2,000 students across five schools. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for all aspects of payroll and benefits processing. Interested candidates need to submit a current resume, cover letter and completed application.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Comprehensive knowledge of governmental accounting standards, state accounting software, and third-party financial service providers. Meets prerequisite qualifications to be bonded.
* Embraces high-performance standards (e.g., engagement, proficiency, resilience, etc.)
* High school diploma or GED. Data processing skills verified by training or work experience. Prefer two years payroll experience. Prefer post-secondary in a related field.
* Maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.
Essential Functions:
* Processes payroll and benefit payments in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
* Assists with annual audit and processes ACFR reporting.
* Completes payroll reports and tax payments by required deadlines.
* Confirms timesheets. Calculates gross wages. Processes payrolls. Reconciles payroll records.
* Distributes employee benefits notices and assists with contracts. Processes enrollment forms.
* Distributes paychecks/deposit confirmations forms.
* Monitors reporting deadlines. Complies with district records retention and disposal policies.
* Maintains employee health insurance and COBRA files. Processes enrollment forms.
* Maintains medical, disability, personal/family leave, and vacation records.
* Maintains monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports. Prepares W-2 forms.
* Maintains retirement records. Processes termination and retirement forms.
* Monitors the electronic database for absences.
* Provides backup support for other department staff. Assists with special projects as directed.
* Other duties may be assigned.
