JOB SUMMARY: The X-Ray Technologist is a medical professional certified and registered to perform diagnostic imaging examinations and works closely with Providers and other Urgent Care staff to provide quality care to patients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Greets patients in a professional manner.
- Verifies patients’ identity and reviews physicians’ orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
- Using x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients’ bones, tissues, and organs as per physicians’ written orders.
- Explaining x-ray procedures to patients and answering their questions.
- Positioning patients accordingly, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
- Limiting patient’s exposure to radiation by placing lead shields on patients where needed.
- Ensuring that the x-rays taken are optimal to prevent repeat procedures.
- Ensure patient flow is speedy and organized.
- Documents patient history in electronic medical record as required.
- Performs all diagnostic x-rays utilizing established protocols/procedures without constant supervision.
- Performs general office cleanup duties during shift.
- Consistently demonstrate internal and external quality customer service standards to all that request assistance, responding in a professional manner

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Category 2 Has a moderate of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other: Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a part-time position, 26 hours per week.

No travel required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in radiologic technology, radiology, or related field.
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Those who have graduated from a RAD Science program must be willing to take their boards within a year.
