Position Overview

Obra Capital is looking for a Director, Investment Grade Analyst to join our New York office. This position will play a crucial role in providing in-depth credit analysis and formulating investment recommendations for investment-grade fixed-income securities. This position requires a strong grasp of credit markets, robust analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will support portfolio management by identifying opportunities and risks within the investment-grade corporate universe, aligning with Obra Capital's investment strategy. The focus will be on managing assets for Obra’s growing insurance balance sheets along with select opportunistic mandates. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting fundamental credit analysis across multiple sectors with a strong preference for an understanding for the financials sector (banks, insurance companies, asset managers, etc.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive credit analysis of investment-grade issuers, including financial statement review, industry research, and evaluation of macroeconomic trends.
  • Develop and communicate actionable investment recommendations to investment team based on credit analysis, relative value assessments, and market dynamics.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers to build and manage fixed-income portfolios, ensuring consistency with investment strategies and risk parameters.
  • Stay informed on credit markets, issuer developments, and economic conditions to identify potential risks and opportunities within the investment-grade sector.
  • Prepare detailed credit reports, investment memos, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with other analysts, portfolio managers, and traders to share insights and contribute to the overall investment decision-making process.
  • Ensure that all investment activities comply with relevant regulations and internal risk management policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or CFA designation is strongly preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in credit analysis, particularly within the investment-grade sector at a financial institution, asset manager, or rating agency.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a deep understanding of financial statements, credit metrics, and fixed-income securities.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and persuasively present complex ideas.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, or similar financial software.
  • A proactive, independent thinker with a passion for credit markets.
  • A strong team player with the ability to collaborate across functions.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.

Compensation

T he expected base salary range for this role is outlined below. In addition to the base salary, total compensation may include a discretionary bonus based on performance. This range given is a best faith estimate which reflects a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, education, location and other qualifications pertinent to the position. Base salary does not include any other performance based compensation such as year end cash bonus.

$180,000-$250,000

In addition all employees of Obra are provided with a daily lunch stipend.

Salary : $180,000 - $250,000
