Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in beautiful Brewster MA is seeking candidates for Bartender. The Bartender is responsible for providing the highest quality customer service to our guests and members by filling drink orders for guests, answering questions about drink ingredients and making suggestions for different types of beverages and cocktails.
He/she is responsible for ensuring that alcoholic beverages are not dispensed to people under the age of 21 and is required to monitor the alcohol intake of guests in accordance with Company policy and state laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Have knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods.
- Assess customer preferences and making drink recommendations.
- Take food and beverage orders from customers or wait staff and serving drinks as requested, paying extreme attention to detail.
- Mix beverages using an extensive range of ingredients including liquor, bitters, soda, water, sugar, and fruits.
- Satisfy patron requests in a timely manner.
- Slicing, pitting, and preparing fruit garnishes for drinks.
- Check guests for proper identification. Detect and act upon guest inebriation as trained. Demonstrate knowledge of liquor laws.
- Organize the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory.
- Keep a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories.
- Ensure the bar, tables, chairs, and work area are cleaned to maintain a sanitary environment.
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
- Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verify validity of charges, records charges, and insures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all moneys.
- Complete liquor inventory, requisitions and supply lists.

Our Bartenders must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Demonstrates the ability to interact with the guests and fellow team members in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner.
- Must be knowledgeable in preparation and service of alcoholic beverages.
- Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register including make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
- Ability to comprehend written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.
- At least 1 year of closely related bartending or work experience required.
- Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
- Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
- Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
