What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Cashier position at Ocean Reef Club?
Summary
Ensure that all deposits are made daily. Verify all deposits and provide daily accurate reports. Provide daily reporting of overages and shortages if there are any to both the Department Managers and the Director of Accounting to insure the safe guarding of the Clubs funds. To maintain House Bank Accounts at the assigned level and in a manner so that we are properly able to serve the cash and change needs of ORC members and operating departments.
Specific Duties:
- Collect all of the following funds, including but not limited to: operations cash, guest ledger, advance deposit, membership and equity payments and miscellaneous receipts.
- Deposit in the proper bank account(s) daily M-F.
- Prepare Daily and Monthly cashier over and short report.
- Distribute, reconcile, code and submit petty cash for payment. Ensure that all slips have appropriate approval before disbursing cash. Cash Advances (i.e. Items without receipts attached) require the approval of the Director of Accounting or a Corporate Officer before funds are disbursed.
- Distribute, track and reconcile house banks. Maintain accurate and current house bank contracts. Ensure all House Banks are counted at least Quarterly.
- Order Metro Bus Passes monthly or as needed.
- Count Cashiers Bank with a Manager no less than once weekly and submit report of status to Director of Accounting
- Provide change to Members, Guests, and Departments on an as needed basis.
- Distribute special event coupons as needed, including reconciliation.
- Prepares Journal entries as needed.
- Other projects & duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting or the VP of Finance
Attendance, Appearance and Conduct:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Ocean Reef Club as defined in the Associates Handbook, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associate with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines.
Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook you should review this section and make sure that at all times you present yourself for your shift looking clean, neat and professional.
As a condition of employment, all associates agree to fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Club facilities. Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Qualifications:
The individual should possess all or most of the following knowledge, skills and abilities in order to perform this position in a satisfactory manner, reasonable accommodations can and will be made for individuals that demonstrate core skills, but might have physical limitations that can be compensated for using some other combination of skills and abilities or the modification of non-core job requirements.
Skills:
Ability to accurately handle and balance funds.
Proficient in use of MS Excel, and MS Word, or similar software.
Ability to use calculator with reasonable speed and accuracy.
Ability to analyze reports and exercise prudent judgment and decision-making.
Ability to read, write and speak English and to communicate effectively.
Ability to sit in one place for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry a 20-pound box.
Ability to drive a vehicle.
Education: High School Diploma required. College Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience: Two years of hospitality or other relevant industry experience and one-year cash handling experience.
Licenses or Certificates: None.
