How You Will Make a Difference
The DON has general oversight of all nursing staff. Direct supervisor of Milieu Supervisor, and Nursing Staff. Responsible for medical/nursing policy and procedures, medical/nursing training, and associated requirements from accrediting bodies.
Demonstrate a desire and willingness to embrace and model the Aster Springs mission within your job responsibilities and interaction with others.
- Oversee/perform Daily vital signs/glucose monitoring of clients
- Oversees medical issues daily and report issues to Nurse Practitioner as needed
- Oversees/perform all medication distribution
- Keep medication lists updated
- Order medication/ensure proper delivery from pharmacy
- Work with insurance companies on patient medications/complete insurance forms/calls as needed
- Oversee/perform blood draws/follow up on lab values
- Oversee/handle medication orders from MD/NP follow up on all orders daily
- Oversee/place medical supply orders (keep stocked and responsible for pick up)
- Oversee/schedule all client needed appointments/tests (communicate with Milieu Supervisor)
- Main communicator between Milieu Supervisor, NP, Nurses and clients
- Occasional reviews with insurance companies
- Oversee/perform admission/discharge nursing duties
- Ensure effective communication between medical/nursing staff and medical vendors
- Oversee/administer any pertinent medical procedures
- Responsible for being on-call as scheduled
- Responsible to oversee accurate accounting of medication charting/procedures/training for all nursing staff
- Work closely with RD on client weight restoration needs/issues
- Responsible for monitoring all labs/EKGs/other tests and communicating results with Nurse Practitioner
- Oversee all pharmacy paperwork/forms-includes controlled substances
- Oversee administration of yearly vaccines
- Oversee infection control program and quarantine program for staff/clients
- Oversee/maintain biohazard accounts/procedures

Qualifications
What We're Seeking
- 5 years or more Nursing/Clinical Experience in Eating Disorder Field Preferred
- Current Tennessee Licensed Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner
- Current CPR/1st Aid/ AED certification (American Red Cross/American Heart Association)
- Valid Driver's License
