JOB PURPOSE: Oversee and support all aspects of center-based and/or home based services. Support staff in providing exceptional education, family and health services per Head Start Performance Standards while also adhering to child care licensing WAC and Early Achievers requirements per program option. Work in close partnership with community partners to ensure support for and involvement in offering high quality program services for shared families. Provide support to direct service staff, educational coaches, and program managers, ensuring adherence to Head Start Performance Standards and Early Learning Department policies and procedures. This position provides oversight for both center-based and/or home-based services and works in partnership with community agencies to ensure high quality service delivery in support of children and families.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise the daily functions of the center-based classrooms including site staff, families, and community partnerships.

2. Supervise, monitor, support and assist in developing, implementing and evaluating the day-to-day operations of a high quality Head Start/EHS/ECEAP classroom, including training and facilitating direct service team, providing reflective and direct supervision, data entry, and Child Plus monitoring.

3. Support and promote a team environment by encouraging and facilitating problem solving, active supervision and maintaining professional boundaries at all times with all staff.

4. Work in partnership with staff to plan and facilitate effective services to children and families utilizing appropriate communication skills, guidance techniques, nurturing qualities that promote positive relationships between colleagues, families, and children.

5. Support staff in establishing and maintaining an effective system of involving families in developing children’s individual learning goals, planning curriculum, collecting evidence, and assessing children’s progress toward our School Readiness Goals.

6. Coordinate staffing of substitutes and Educational Aides in order to provide a safe and effective teaching environment for each classroom.

7. Ensure that classrooms and outdoor environments comply with agency and program policies, Head Start/ECEAP Performance Standards, and all other applicable regulations and policies.

8. Coordination and monitoring of CACFP/USDA implementation for children 4 weeks through 5 years. Support purchasing, claims processing, training, and program observation.

9. Collaborate with Child Development Coaches regarding instructional practices, child-centered and directed planning, and teacher performance observed during classroom visits.

10. Ensure Parent, Family and Community Engagement occurs at the site in coordination with Family/Health Program Manager.

11. Ensure timely completion and dissemination of required paperwork including referrals, goals and progress notes, database and tracking reports, home visits, parent meetings and conferences, in-kind documentation, time sheets, calendar changes, and other paperwork.

12. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.

13. Assist in creating personnel and classroom calendars.

14. Annually, in collaboration with staff, create goals for staff growth plan of support.

15. Provide individualized support for staff in areas of identified growth.

16. Conduct annual job evaluations for staff.

17. Participate in appropriate local and out-of-town trainings.

18. Participate in program-wide activities, including family engagement activities; recruitment and enrollment; programs grant funding review; and program’s annual self-assessment.

19. Uphold and assist in enforcing administrative regulations and board policy.

20. Create and maintain relationships with host schools and key community resource agencies and partners.

21. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Associates degree with emphasis in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) and a minimum of four years early childhood teaching experience; --OR--

2. A baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education; --OR--

3. A baccalaureate or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education, with experience teaching children ages birth to 5.

4. CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers Certificate or ability to obtain prior to working with children on site.

5. Experience working with people with culturally diverse backgrounds.

6. Experience working with children ages birth to age five.

7. Prior Head Start/Early Head Start/ECEAP experience or former Head Start/Early Head Start/ECEAP parent preferred.

8. One-year experience training adults preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

1. Ability to use multiple communication and technology systems, including electronic mail, computers, document cameras, smart boards and web-based resources.

2. Knowledge of early childhood developmentally appropriate curriculum and best practices.

3. Knowledge of child development principles.

4. Experience working with groups of children in multi-age settings.

5. Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills.

6. Ability to keep confidentiality.

7. Ability to take initiative.

8. Must have excellent written communication skills.

9. Ability to work effectively and positively with staff, families’ and community partners.

10. Ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends

11. Ability to travel; reliable transportation; appropriate auto insurance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.22 - $30.14 per hour
