What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swing/Night Shift Sanitation Supervisor position at Okanagan Specialty Fruits?
Okanagan Specialty Fruits LLC. (OSF) is seeking an Experienced Sanitation Supervisor for our Ready-to-Eat Apple Processing facility. The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading the sanitation team in completing the daily and master sanitation schedules to ensure the facility and all processing machinery is maintained according to food safety regulations. This is a mid to night shift position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all the duties and responsibilities of the Sanitation Technicians
- Perform daily inspections of the facility after sanitation, documenting and reporting any issues
- Provide feedback to the management team when relevant and appropriate.
- Provide initial and follow-up training to sanitation technicians.
- Create and distribute work schedules and locations to sanitation team.
- Complete paperwork and update the master cleaning schedule.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of sanitation Standard Operating Procedure documents.
- Actively participate in employee coaching & corrective action
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing the Chemical Control Program including ordering, receiving, transporting, storing, taking inventory, labeling, maintaining safety data sheets, diluting, and using sanitation chemicals.
- Accountable for daily sanitation performance.
- Responsible for ensuring that the scrubbing, cleaning, and sanitizing of all processing machinery and facility after production runs has been completed.
- Responsible to ensure all areas of the site are maintained at the highest sanitation level
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
- Perform strength analysis on soaps and sanitizers used in the sanitation process
- Responsible for conducting and documenting quality checks as required by the company’s policies and procedures
- Support Plant Quality Systems
- Participate, drive, improve, and sustain Food Safety & Sanitation Activities at the site.
- Ensure all scheduled cleaning processes are completed correctly, legibly and in a timely manner.
- Validate sanitation effectiveness with visual inspection, swab performance (ATP, Microbial, Allergen), and chemical concentrations for program compliance.
- Be willing and able to cross-train on all sanitation responsibilities.
- Ensure sanitation chemicals, supplies, and tools are stocked and available
- Assist in maintaining Master Sanitation Schedule to ensure it is always in an “audit ready” state
- Initiate work orders for any repairs necessary to the facility
- Recommend improvements to the Sanitation Program, Environmental Program, Pest Control Program, and other programs as appropriate.
- Successfully function in a working supervisor role – balancing working in the role with leading the team.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Sanitation Manager.

PREFFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 3 year experience in a Supervisory capacity in sanitation or food safety.
- 5 year Supervisory or Management in Manufacturing or Food Production
- Chemical experience and training
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- The ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- The ability to stand, walk, reach, and move for long periods of time.
- The ability to stand, walk, ascend, and descend stairs.
- The ability to work in varying working climates, i.e., temperatures may vary from very hot to very cold, wet/damp.
- Exposure to loud noises.
- Regular use of PPE when operating machinery or systems including but not limited to protective clothing, eye safety glasses, safety / rubber boots, hearing protectors, and hairnets.
