Position Title: 7th & 8th Grade Montessori Math Teacher (Full-time)

Job Overview

The 7th & 8th Grade Montessori Math Teacher is a pivotal role within our educational team, responsible for guiding and facilitating the learning experience of students in a dynamic classroom environment. This position is dedicated to fostering a passion for education, diversity, and inclusivity in alignment with the values of Okemos Public Schools.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate and enhance learning for students in grades 7 and 8.
• Develop and implement tailored learning plans that align with educational standards and ensure grade-level competence.
• Monitor and assess student progress towards academic and developmental goals.
• Employ Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports to promote a positive classroom atmosphere.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with effective teaching practices.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities.
• Foster relationships with parents, families, and community members to enhance educational outcomes.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions and responsibilities.
• Lift and manage classroom materials and resources as needed, up to 50 lbs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the building principal.
  
  

Required Skills

• Valid Michigan Math EX Teaching Certification.
• Demonstrated passion for working with children and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
• Strong knowledge of pedagogical strategies effective for middle school education.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Collaborative approach to working with faculty and administrative staff.
  
  

Qualifications

• Proven ability to advocate for and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the classroom.
• Strong foundational knowledge of curriculum and instruction for grades 7 and 8.
• Previous teaching experience, particularly within a Montessori framework, is preferred.

Compensation And Benefits

• Salary range: \(43,489 to \)61,951, determined by the Master Agreement and commensurate with experience.
