Description
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Oklahoma Central Credit Union in living out our Brand Promise, “Your financial well-being is our reason for being”, by delivering outstanding service to both internal and external members. In addition, the accountant performs financial functions related to the collection of data, accuracy of entry and report generation of the credit unions financial operations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Performs various account reconciliations. Supports major segments of monthly closings (including loan interest accruals, dividend accruals, investment transaction reporting, provision and loan allowance entries to branches, prepaid entries, accounts receivable and accounts payable, etc). Posts to and balances general and subsidiary ledgers. In certain instances, this requires daily balancing.
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Entries are then posted into the Accounting software package.
- Performs imports from core system to accounting software package. Posts import to allocate bi weekly salaries and benefits to appropriate branches.
- Coordinates periodic inventory of Fixed Assets. Tracking is based on branch location. Provides monthly summary reports and required reconciliations.
- Completes or helps in preparing necessary financial reports (FR 2900, QCD, Call report, ESI, etc).
- Cross-trains on other critical department functions to ensure daily operations of the credit union are not disrupted by absences.
- Responsible for submitting taxes due on member withholding and preparing GL entry. Quarterly sends in Federal and monthly for State.
- Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements
Requirements
Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
(1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Must be able to operate a 10-key calculator by touch. Must know how to use PC and spreadsheet software. Must also be experienced and knowledgeable with accounting terms and processes.

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions:
- Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- This type of work involves sitting a portion of the time, but will involve walking or standing for periods of time.
- The employee must be able to perceive the origin and nature of sound, near and far, visually observe the work environment and have vision and/or depth perception sufficient to operate business related equipment, provide oral information, and have sufficient manual dexterity to handle and operate business related equipment and various materials and objects for extended periods of time.
- Regular, punctual attendance is required
General office professional work environment consisting of desks and office equipment such as telephone, computer, ten key calculator, copying equipment, fax equipment, scanning equipment.
