What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Faculty, Physician Assistant Program (Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor) position at Oklahoma City University?
This is a nontenure-track position that will provide didactic education and course coordination to first-year PA students, participate as a facilitator in small group learning experiences, provide clinical instruction, counsel students on academic issues, and support the program’s delivery of the professional curriculum.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Teaching Requirements
Academic:
- Maintain a close working relationship with all PA program faculty and staff.
- Serve as a coordinator and lecturer in courses as determined by the Program Director.
- Share in the development of clinical rotation sites around the state and preform site visits as assigned.
- Serve as a mentor and advisor to PA students.
- Serve as a small group facilitator in learning experiences and clinical instruction.
- Share in didactic evaluations and other assessments tools as required by the accrediting body.
- Coordinate continuous and periodic self-study of the clinical phase and didactic phase as assigned.
Service:
- Serve on PA Program and university committees as determined by Program Director.
- Participate in advisement of potential students as directed by Program Director.
- Participate in community activities that will enhance the exposure of the OCU PA Program.
- Maintain current certifications from the NCCPA and licensure from the OSBMLS.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- The candidate must possess a Master’s degree and be eligible for licensure as a PA in Oklahoma.
- The candidate must be currently certified by the NCCPA and eligible for licensure in Oklahoma.
- It is preferred that the candidate have experience in education at the graduate level including syllabi, test and lecture preparation. Also, the candidate must be able to work autonomously in providing direct patient care services
- It is preferred that the candidate have at least two years of experience in PA education. In addition, the candidate must have two years of experience providing direct patient care services.
