Responsibilities
The OHH System Director- Revenue Cycle will report to the CFO, the System Director is responsible providing operational oversight and strategic direction to the system-wide revenue cycle functions. The System Director will work with stakeholders across the organization to maximize both profitability and productivity and ensure best practices while fully complying with all regulatory and third-party payer reimbursement requirements. The System Director manages, coordinates, and oversees revenue management activities including charge entry, billing, follow-up, collections, cash posting and customer service. Manages a total team of approximately 90 - 100 co-workers with 4 Manager level direct reports. The System Director will perform duties as assigned and in accordance with the Hospital mission, values, and behavioral standards.
Key knowledge and skills include:
- Must understand acute care hospital and physician practice operations, as well as other health care services
- Adept at tackling complex system issues between payer and provider
- Ability to effectively manage activities and personnel issues related to a large, complex team
- Communicate concisely and accurately with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing
- Oversee Billing, Follow-Up, Denial and Payment Variances, Customer Service, Payment Operations, Cash Posting, Eligibility Assistance and Financial Support programs
- Analyze AR, Billing, Collections, and other key areas that impact the collection of revenue
- Work closely with physicians and front-line staff to expedite the charge capture, billing, and follow-up process
- Develop and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures
- Set department goals and measure performance at regular intervals
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement; always evaluating performance and looking for ways to improve
- Serves as a role model for staff
Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Experience
- BS Degree in Business, Finance or Healthcare Administration
- Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience in the healthcare industry
- Experience with Cerner or Epic EHR System
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or MHA
- Experience implementing a revenue cycle software package and the use of AI to automate processes
- Knowledge of process improvement methods including LEAN and Six-sigma
