Breakfast Program Assitant
Under general direction of the Food Services Manager, assists in preparing and serving school breakfast; cleans and maintains equipment and work areas in a safe and efficient manner; and does related work as assigned.

The Breakfast Program Assistant classification is distinguished from other classes in the Food Services series in that incumbent is not required to have as much food preparation experience due to the limited breakfast menu.
Example of Duties:
- Assists the Food Services Manager in the preparation, serving and sale of breakfast to pupils and teachers;
- Cleans and maintains kitchen utensils and work area;
- Stores and maintains inventory of food and supplies;
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Sanitary and safety measures in food services preparation and serving;
- Simple mathematics;
- Basic principles of safety and sanitation;
- Basic food serving utensils and equipment;
- Operation of kitchen equipment;
- Methods of cleaning and maintaining food service areas, utensils and equipment.
Ability to:
- Lift a minimum of 50 pounds using correct body mechanics;
- Sell and serve food efficiently;
- Perform general cleanup of kitchen areas and equipment;
- Learn nutritional value of foods;
- Use a variety of commercial kitchen machinery;
- Prepare food following food handler’s guidelines;
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
- Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties;
- Maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties;
- Learn and follow the practices, rules, and regulations of the District and the school to which assigned;
- Maintain the confidentiality of school related information.
Education:
- Graduation from twelfth grade or equivalent
- No experience required.
Other:
- Post Offer/Pre-Placement Physical examination is required prior to hire. Physical demands are available for review upon request.
Desirable :
- Food Manager Certification.
Responsible to:
- Site Administrator.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.96 - $24.26 per hour
Expected hours: 3.75 per week
