What are the responsibilities and job description for the Morning Lifeguards position at Old Colony YMCA?
PAID Lifeguard Certification Training. $200 sign on bonus.
Job Description:
- Provide active scanning of the pool independently or as marked by your zone of protection in coordination with other facility lifeguards. Ensure professionalism and rescue readiness at all times
- Assist with our “test, mark and protect” swim testing to assure non-swimmers are clearly marked and aware of safety guidelines
- Properly test water for chemical balance and record at assigned times. Report any problems immediately to Supervisor
- Follow daily maintenance schedule as assigned including hosing deck, brushing down pool walls, cleaning staff office, checking safety equipment, reporting all problems or suggestions for improvement to supervisor.
- Attend mandatory monthly in-services and staff meetings

- Available between the hours of 4:30am-9am, shifts can be flexible within this timeframe
- Jeff Ellis and Associates lifeguard training preferred. Training available at time of hire
- Willing to become lifeguard certified at time of hire
- Must be able to lift, push and pull heavy weights to demonstrate equipment and technique, and to set up and break down equipment.
- Minimum of 16 years old
- Flexible Schedule
- Physical pre- requisites ability to swim 100 yards (8 pool lengths), tread water for 2 min, retrieve 10 lb. brick from depth
- 20/20 or 20/40 vision
