What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Person position at Olshan Properties?
POSITION PURPOSE:
Ensure cleanliness of guest floor corridors, foyers, stairwells, and public vending areas, and assists room attendants according to Hilton's standards of quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Empty room attendant carts of soiled linen and trash. Replenish with clean linen.
- Remove & replenish linen in Check-Out rooms only.
- Deliver amenities to guest rooms upon guest requests.
- Vacuum, sweep, and/or mop hallways, stairwells, storage areas, vending areas, and foyers.
- Clean and remove spots from corridor walls and doors. Polish and clean mirrors, room numbers on guest room doors, and shampoo carpets.
- Cleans windows of the tower and ground floor exterior. Polish hardware throughout the hotel.
- Remove stains debris such as gum, from carpets & upholstery to maintain a neat and clean appearance. Use brush, cloths and approved chemical agents for proper cleaning of surfaces.
- Keep floor closets clean, neat, and well stocked according to departmental guidelines for linen, bathrobes, slippers, water bottles, toilet tissue, facial tissue, etc.
- Flip mattresses and move furniture as assigned by supervisor.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
OTHER:
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
All employees are required to comply fully with the rules and standards set forth by Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort, Olshan Properties and Hilton Hotels Corporation.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Ability to learn how to use stain removal and chemical agents, and operation of various floor cleaning equipment.
- Ability to use gross motor skills to reach, bend, stoop, stand and walk continuously, climb stairs, and push or pull heavy equipment up to 200 lbs.
- Ability to grasp and lift up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to climb and work on ladders up to 25 ft. in height.
- Ability to move throughout the premise and visually inspect conditions.
- Possess hearing and speaking ability sufficient to respond to IPods/radio calls, guest requests, etc.
- Ability to use finger/hand movements for extended periods of time. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, etc.
- Ability to speak and understand basic English in order to respond to guest requests.
- Able to understand the duties, respect the job of others and work as a team player.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be hot, noisy, and wet.
