Job Summary:
The School Age Education Coordinator assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of Special Education procedures and programs consistent and compatible with New York State educational requirements for Special Education. The School Age Education Coordinator is responsible for promoting high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, and providing feedback to teachers to support best practices leading to student achievement. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.

Essential Job Duties:
1. Monitors Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) of students for quality and cohesiveness of information submitted by all service providers. Ensures all final drafts on IEP direct are complete and correct before being submitted to districts.
2. Develops policies, procedures and coordinates training to ensure teachers to uphold IEP provisions and written quality as reflected in reports and data tracking. Provides direct oversight of the Annual Review process.
3. Works with building principals and teams to develop and implement the school improvement process (data analysis, goal setting, action plans, etc.).
4. Assists in the evaluation of academic programs, grading and assessment, and their effect on student achievement.
5. Monitor inventory of current subscriptions (access, costs, terms, etc.).
6. Develops, coordinates, and monitors the program of instruction for academic programs and oversees updates of the curriculum. Reviews lesson plans for quality and alignment to NYS standards. Assists in allocating Title Funds to support instruction.
7. Assists teachers in using evidence-based instructional and learning strategies and differentiated instructional strategies in planning, delivering, and assessing lessons and individual student success.
8. Leads the coordination of instructional support for new teachers and provides oversight of the Teacher Mentor Program and Curriculum Committee.
9. Assists in the development of short- and long-range plans for the integration of technology into the instructional program. Organizes G-Suite Education for all students.
10. Develops and facilitates professional learning opportunities in curriculum, instruction and assessment strategies that promote achievement for all students.
11. Assists in the development and implementation of the Education Division Strategic Plan. Uses data to monitor progress and report outcomes as necessary.
12. Performs other duties and assumes other leadership responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Education:
  • Minimum Degree Required: Master’s Degree in Special Education, Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Teaching/Instruction and/or Master’s Degree in similar field
Experience Required:
  • Minimum Teaching Experience Required: 3-5 years teaching experience
Required License/Registration/Certification:
  • NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities or related field
Training:
  • New Hire Orientation
Physical Requirements:
  • The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.
  • The constant physical demand of the position is sitting.
  • The frequent physical demands of the position are standing, walking, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
