What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scrub Technician position at Omni Eye Specialist Pa?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tests patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
Examines eye for abnormalities of cornea, and anterior and posterior chambers.
Applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test).
Tests patient's field of vision, including central and peripheral vision, for defects, and charts test results on graph paper.
Measures axial length of eye.
Performs other tests and measurements as requested by Ophthalmologist.
Assists Ophthalmologist with medical procedures.
Orders, receives and maintains medical supplies.
Gives instructions to patients concerning eye care.
Maintains clinical area, exam rooms, and Doctor's work station clean and orderly.
Closes down exam rooms properly, powering down medical equipment.
Performs routine and delegated duties in preparing the operating room appropriately for the procedure.
Assembles necessary supplies and equipment for the scheduled procedure in accordance with surgeon's preference.
Checks equipment to assure proper working conditions.
Follows principles of aseptic technique in opening sterile packages and performing duties in preparation for the surgical procedure.
Arranges instruments according to routine for given procedure. Confirms that instruments work properly.
Anticipates the needs of the surgeon to assure that instruments and supplies are available and delays are avoided.
Conscientiously reports any observed or suspected break in sterile technique and takes action according to policy.
Observes safety measures in patient care activities.
Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room to insure availability during procedure.
Assists in work area in cleaning, storage, packaging and sterilizing instruments.
Assists in storing and stocking of supplies as directed.
