What You’ll Do:
In the role of Distribution Center Manager, you will lead a team of DC associates in all general Distribution Center (DC) activities. Such activities include overseeing day to day order processing, inventory control, and transportation decisions. Additional responsibilities include facility management, expense control, site safety and security.
This is a highly visible role. The right individual must be comfortable working with both local and national sales teams in a time sensitive, transactional work environment. Ideal candidate must be a confident, yet humble team player with a can-do attitude. Most importantly, a candidate must have a proven track record to lead, train and develop people in fast paced work environment.
Working Conditions:
- This position will lead a team of 40 to 50 employees on all necessary activities
- This is a hands-on position. Individual must be comfortable driving a forklift and lifting up to 50 lbs. routinely throughout the day as you will be required to work alongside your team in satisfying the daily workload.
- Be available on-call for nights, weekends and holidays for after hour emergency orders
Work Experience
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) with focus on Supply Chain and/or Logistics or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years of supervisory experience in a related high-volume distribution center environment to include inventory control, order fulfillment, incoming/outgoing movement of goods, negotiation of freight rates, export compliance of international shipments, and OSHA standards adherence and compliance.
- Sound business judgment grounded in quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills - must be detail oriented
- Prior experience working closely with a sales team
- Must be mechanically inclined enough to troubleshoot minor equipment issues
- Carrier selection and freight tendering experience
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Prior experience using WMS, TMS, and Microsoft Office software
- A calm, level-headed demeanor and positive attitude when dealing with stressful situations
Bonus:
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)
- Experience in LEAN Six Sigma and 5S methodologies
- Military training and/or experience
