This is a 1st Shift position with some mandatory overtime.

POSITION SUMMARY: Operate various equipment to fabricate and/or modify metal parts to OMT-Veyhl quality standards. Strives for productivity and continuous improvement in a team with welders and with other areas of the manufacturing process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs basic machine maintenance.
  • Download computer program to machine.
  • Set up and operate fabrication machine to produce parts to specification.
  • Control and monitor the material flow.
  • Set up and operate fabrication machine
  • Set up tooling in proper locations if necessary
  • Dimension and inspect parts for quality and fit with print.
  • Select testing procedures and devices and apply them.
  • Perform required maintenance and calibration.
  • Observe the regulations regarding environmental protection, work safety, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate work with operations before and after them in the process chain.
  • Shuttle parts within plant, as required.
  • Complete production log of finished parts.
  • Logs into and out of jobs on NAV system, entering completed parts and scrapped parts and their locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must have high attention to details.
  • Must have ability to use common measuring tools and able to measure parts to tolerances of thousandths of an inch.
  • Must have ability to operate equipment.
  • Must have mechanical abilities.
  • Must be able to maintain equipment.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common prints, CAD drawings.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and customers.
  • Must maintain absolute confidentiality in all areas of responsibility, including, but not limited to: company designs, manufacturing processes, tooling, and other company trade secrets.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions using calculator or PC. · Ability to use common plant measurement tools.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables under strict manufacturing and product standards.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to traverse within the facility.
  • The employee will constantly operate equipment and handle material requiring dexterity, grip, and detection of minute detail using their hands, fingers, tools and/or equipment.
  • The employee may be required to ascend/descend and position themselves around equipment, tools, and fixturing.
  • The employee must frequently move, lift, and/or transfer components, tools, and equipment ranging from 10 - 60 pounds.
  • Specific abilities required by this job include the ability to perceive items up close, observe items in the distance, distinguish between colors, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position will function in a factory environment with welding operations.
  • The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
  • The work environment is occasionally dusty.
