Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
- Provides daily oversight of the allocation process to facilitate effective organ allocation to maximize organs transplanted.
- Manages departmental staff scheduling.
- Plans, prepares for and manages department meetings.
- Counsels and disciplines staff based on HR policies and procedures.
- Approves time-off requests and time sheets for staff.
- Participates in Donor Allocation Triage on-call schedule as needed.
- Can perform all functions of the organ allocation process.
- Functions as a primary trainer for the department.
- Ensures proper training and skills assessment review of all donor allocation staff.
- Upholds all OneLegacy policies and procedures and professionalism standards organization wide.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Organ Allocation Functions
- Responsible for after action review of the organ allocation process issues and successes.
- Oversees organ allocation, including local organ sharing variances and policies, and ensures that it conforms to the OneLegacy and UNOS policies.
- Maintains current knowledge of organ allocation policies; keeps staff informed of changes, and provides consultation and training to all staff when needed.
- Ensures that deviations from normal allocation process are clearly documented and a letter sent to UNOS compliance department.
- Directs activities that monitor effective and appropriate responses to organ and import donor referrals.
- Oversees all donor information entered in the Unet database in a timely manner by the Donor Allocation Coordinator.
- Functions as a Donor Allocation Coordinator on shift as needed and provides administrative backup/consultation for all staff, as needed.
- Serves as resource to the department to handle the escalation of donor allocation related issues/concerns with internal and external partners.
- Debriefs donor situations with placement staff, and provide support.
- Reviews donor activity routinely with the clinical management team.
- Interacts on a regular basis with staff and Operations Leadership team, to ensure complete communications is linked throughout Operations Leadership and staff
- Stays up to date with all AOPO and CMS guidelines; UNOS policies
- Directs the Donor Allocation Coordinators (DAC) on UNOS and transplant center follow up reporting in a timely manner
- Oversees the daily operations of the Donor Allocation Department via structured feedback and accountability metrics reviewed.
- Conducts individual meetings with Donor Allocation staff on a regular interval. Meetings will serve to provide the staff with performance feedback and accountability metrics.
- Identifies situations where protocols for laboratory services and/or surgical support need to be reviewed, revised, and/or discussed with Operations leadership and/or the Medical Director.
- Can be utilized to review policies for effectiveness or make revisions utilizing the document control process with QS.
- Attends organ allocation related meetings at donor hospitals and/or transplant centers.
Pay range:
$115,000 - $120,824
