What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinician position at OneSource?

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all Substance Abuse Clinical services offered to adult clients. This position is responsible for staff training and supervision of clinical issues as well as overall counselor supervision in the program and group setting. This position is responsible for overall clinical and case management of clients, to include medical, counseling, educational, vocational, and recreational services. This position will require on call services as needed. 

 Duties include but are not limited to diagnostic initial biopsychosocial assessment, service authorizations, intakes, re-assessments, composing implementing treatment plans, conducting individual, group and family counseling, reviewing quarterly reports, discharge summaries and re-evaluating clients’ needs for continued stay. In addition, clinician responsible for the overall S.A. case management of clients in the group settings and will maintain a client caseload of 1 to 10 clients. This position is responsible for facilitating all therapy, (psycho educational, Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Life Skills, and Family). This position will act as a liaison between clients, referring agencies and other communities-based organizations providing crisis intervention as needed.

 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Licensed in Virginia as a Mental Health Professional: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with the applicable licensing board. Or, registered as MSW Supervisee in Social Work for LCSW licensure with State Board of Social Work or as a Resident under Supervision with Board of Counseling in the state of Virginia.
  2. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Human Services. Two years of professional experience in a mental health, substance abuse, or intellectual disability setting.
  3. Experience with children in an educational or residential setting and/or adults requiring clinical services based on community-based programs.
  4. Experience in diagnostic interviewing with individuals and families.
  5. Excellent communication skills as well as an ability to work with a variety of people to inspire best practices in social work.
  6. Regular and predictable attendance.
  7. Must be able to successfully pass State, Federal, and Central Registry background reviews.
  8. Knowledge of health and safety precautions. Certification in basic first-aid, CPR, and crisis intervention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

While the most essential functions are outlined below, responsibilities include but are not inclusive of tasks which the Clinician shall provide. 

  1. Performs and/or reviews psychological, educational, familial, vocational, substance abuse, and program assessment records and evaluations to assess and/or treat emotional/behavior problems, education/academic problems, attention problems, social and interpersonal dysfunction, physical/sexual/emotional abuse and neglect, personality dysfunction and drug/alcohol abuse.
  2. Conducts client assessments, treatment plans and other case records documentation) in order to provide advice, direction and consultation and to ensure that work is being performed according to established policies and procedures. Provides psychosocial assessments of each client.
  3. Provides treatment across a range of modalities to include psychotherapy, crisis management, group and/or family therapy.
  4. Acts as clinical advocate for clients. Presents client profile and participates at multi-disciplinary staffing for agency decision regarding clients in program.
  5. Assigns, directs and reviews the work of subordinates involved in providing social services to patients or clients in a treatment unit or community placement program. Provides clinical supervision of other staff through reviewing clinical documentation, face-to-face meetings, facilitating individual and group sessions, making recommendations to treatment and countersigning documents as needed.
  6. Participates in the planning and coordination of staff and programs for an assigned unit or program; monitors attainment of goals and effectiveness of services.
  7. Provides highly skilled assessments, crisis interventions, counseling and other advanced clinical work and mental health services for a specialized client population.
  8. Participates in the provision of social work and mental health services in an interdisciplinary treatment team program; serves as a social service advisor to members of the interdisciplinary team, other professional staff, clients, patients, family members, and community social service agency representatives.
  9. Acts as a liaison with parent associations and other community-based service providers; identifies and develops available social services resources in the community for clients; explains treatment philosophy, programs and goals.
  10. Participates as an instructor in staff development classes; assists in coordinating the development and implementation of the training and professional development of other staff.
  11. Serves on designated facility committees such as program review, behavior management, board of inquiry, human rights and research.
  12. Compiles and prepares clinical reports and records related to the activities and accomplishments of the program.
  13. Possess a working knowledge of the prior authorization process and the ability to complete and monitor service authorizations.
  14. Assist with billing issues.
  15. Performs other related work as assigned.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Working knowledge of social work practices, techniques and ethics as they apply to intervention programs for the mentally ill.
  2. Working knowledge of individual, group and family behavior.
  3. Working knowledge of counseling techniques and theories.
  4. Ability to research available community resources and of their organization, purpose and use.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with professional staff, subordinates, patients, clients, their families and other agency representatives.
  6. Ability to maintain clinical records and prepare related reports.
  7. Ability to express ideas effectively.
  8.  Knowledge of health and safety precautions. Certification in basic first-aid, CPR, and crisis intervention.
  9. Must be able to successfully pass State, Federal, and Central Registry investigations.
