The Data Security Administrator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing security measures to protect organizational information systems. This role ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data by preventing unauthorized access, modification, disclosure, or destruction of information.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, and maintain data security controls for systems, servers, and databases
- Train users and promote security awareness to improve system security and network efficiency
- Develop and execute plans to safeguard data against accidental or unauthorized access, modification, or loss
- Conduct risk assessments and perform security testing of data processing systems
- Monitor security threats and virus reports; update antivirus and protection systems as needed
- Modify security configurations to support new software, correct issues, and manage user access
- Encrypt data transmissions and manage firewalls to protect confidential information
- Investigate and address security violations and access issues
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to implement security solutions
- Support emergency data processing and disaster recovery requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and customer service abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Basic mentoring and user support skills
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, processors, and electronic equipment
- Understanding of engineering and technology applications related to IT security
- Familiarity with laws, regulations, and compliance standards related to data security
- Experience with security and identity management tools such as Cisco Systems, IBM Tivoli Identity Management (TIM), or similar technologies
Associate's degree in Computer Programming or a related field (required) Bachelor's degree preferred 5 7 years of experience in data security, information security, or related roles
