What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Coordinator position at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island?
Primary Responsibilities
- Takes accurate surgical bookings from surgeon’s offices
- Obtain appropriate paperwork for each case/including patient clearances
- Creates daily surgical schedule
- Creates surgical charts in EMR
Take accurate surgical bookings
- Make sure all required information is obtained and present in EMR
- Obtain appropriate paperwork for each case
- Contacts scheduling coordinators regarding missing paperwork and follows up to obtain the missing paperwork
- Makes sure the necessary paperwork is within required time frame
- Provides copies of IOL’s to appropriate staff for “picking”
- When necessary calls patient’s medical doctor to obtain all pre-admission testing paperwork
- Prior to the day of surgery, makes sure all paperwork is received
- Ensures forms being used by ASC and surgeon’s offices are neat and legible
Create daily surgical schedule
- Communicate with OR Supervisor and surgeon’s office staff to allow sufficient time for scheduling or procedures
- Creates daily surgical schedule in the computer and forward a copy to the surgeons office and nursing staff
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Medical terminology: 1 year (Preferred)
