Sales Engineer

A- SHIFT (7:00am-3:30PM) 

Minimum 35 hrs/week; overtime as needed

Job Summary and Essential Job Duties

The Sales Engineer is responsible for developing customer relationships and maintaining knowledge of Optimax manufacturing capabilities, comprehensive optics industry knowledge, quoting techniques, and selling methods.   This role also requires the ability to understand the customer needs for success including technical requirements, cost, and delivery. The Sales Engineer should have a compelling drive to build customer relationships and seek continual improvements in customer service and value creation.  

The Sales Engineer will:  

  • Provide technical support for quoting and customer service;
  • Communicate frequently with customers to create awareness of Optimax capabilities and build our brand;
  • Provide technical support, quote jobs and facilitate customer satisfaction including all aspects of customer service;
  • Develop market awareness for, but not limited to, business opportunities, vendors, complimentary  and competitive situations within the industry;
  • Work with frequent changes in customer demands and priorities.

 Education & Experience Requirements: 

  • 2-year or 4-year degree in Optics required
  • 10 years of experience in technical sales required
  • 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment performing technical support on process and/or quality matters, preferably in optics manufacturing 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations in a professional manner
  • Highly motivated team player that demonstrates attention to detail, is results-oriented 
  • Ability to make presentations to customers about Optimax manufacturing capabilities 
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite, ACT, VISTA, OptiQuote, Zemax
  • There is the opportunity for this role to have a hybrid work model, with a mixture of in-office and remote work.
  • Frequent travel will be required to meet with current and prospective customers

 Compensation and Benefits

Optimax Systems offers highly competitive salary of $59,200-$93,744/year, a comprehensive benefits package and a unique work environment.
