Position Responsibilities:
- Promptly and politely greeting patients and making them feel welcome as they enter the clinic
- Answering all incoming calls related to Physical Therapy in a friendly and efficient manner
- Communicating with patients to schedule, cancel or reschedule physical therapy appointments
- Verifying patient demographic information and updating information as needed; scanning insurance and identification cards; verifying insurance eligibility and updating patient accounts accordingly
- Directing or assisting patients in completing appropriate paperwork and answering patient questions
- Managing point of service collections (co-pays, co-insurances, deductibles, self-pay); performs daily cash box reconciliation
- Accurately preparing patient charts for upcoming appointments
- Assisting coworkers in completion of duties when time allows; training new employees as needed
- Straightening and maintaining a clean patient reception area
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- One year of customer service experience or prior medical office experience preferred
- Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively and accurately
