The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant performs basic patient care tasks as a cooperative member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, in the Surgery Services nursing unit at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center. He/she reports at all times to a supervising nurse. This position also indirectly supports patient care by providing clerical support to the unit as assigned. The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant facilitates a safe, clean working environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.

2. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform assigned tasks/duties according to hospital policies and procedures.
3. Demonstrates the ability to clean assigned area according to hospital policy, wearing appropriate PPE during turn over between patients and terminal cleaning.
4. Demonstrates the ability and understanding of properly using chemicals per instructions.
5. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.
6. Participates in processes that improve the standards of care and practice in the delivery of nursing service.
7. Demonstrates the ability to safely and completely use equipment in the performance of assignment.
8. Utilizes effective communication with patients, families, and staff members.
9. Supports sustainment of the Magnet culture.
10. Possesses knowledge of job specific competencies and demonstrates ability to safely perform tasks associated with job responsibilities.
11. Maintains an orderly, clean, productive work environment, ensuring needed supplies are readily accessible.
12. Other duties as assigned.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications:
Experience
• Basic computer knowledge preferred
• Minimum of one (1) years of recent Acute Care experience preferred
• Ability to fulfill the on-call requirement of the department
Education
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required
