Job Summary
Involved in the process of hiring and discharging of direct support professionals. Supervise classroom DSPs. Write and monitor implementation plans.
Cooperation with families, other service providers and professionals is an essential component of the job. Able to demonstrate good judgment in evaluating crisis situations. Able to express ideas clearly and concisely in oral and written forms. Written and oral reports and participation in meetings will be required. Will perform other related duties as assigned and will be accountable for timely completion of all documents. The Support Program Coordinator will maintain contact with parents/conservator to assure coordination of all efforts to maximize each person' s program plan.
Education/Experience
5 years of Work Experience working directly with persons with intellectual and/or physical disabilities or a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services field (i.e. Psychology, Sociology, Education, or Counseling).
Technical Job Knowledge
Assess, plan and implement individual program plans for individuals with developmental disabilities. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing specialized assessments and methodologies for the re-mediation of maladaptive behaviors, health problems, and positioning. The Support Program Coordinator will work cooperatively with support services, families, advocates and state agency representatives. Requires knowledge and ability to coordinate all services and programs necessary for successful completion of each persons individualized program plan. The Support Program Coordinator position requires basic computer skills. Will supervise Direct Support Professionals and monitor persons supported daily schedules.
Physical Requirements
Support Program Coordinator will have health and physical ability to efficiently accomplish assigned duties. Must be able to lift 20lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally. Physical examination, including T.B. skin test or chest x-ray is required prior to employment. Ability to lift and provide individuals with movement is required as a part of the daily routine.
