POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Dean of Academics or designee, this position will work, as needed as a substitute teacher, on short-term or long-term assignments
Reports to: Dean of Academics
Supervisory duties: None
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for continuous supervision of students in the classroom
- Record and report classroom attendance according to school systems
- Follow lesson plans effectively
- Responsible for student academic growth and development in meeting student academic needs by providing appropriate and approved instruction
- Communicate as needed with school personnel or regular teacher to clarify lesson plans
- Maintain attractiveness and cleanliness of the room environment
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with school staff, support personnel, and parents to provide effective learning activities for students
- Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during assigned work-time, and accept responsibility for maintaining behavior standards school-wide
- Maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a desirable safe learning environment in and out of the classroom
- Provide a classroom climate and learning experience that supports the emotional, physical, social, and mental development of the student
- Follow all school handbook guidelines and regulations/procedures
- Supports the Mission of Orange Lutheran High School. Teaching and classroom behavior is in alignment with the Statement of Faith of Orange Lutheran High School
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Act as a roving substitute to cover classrooms as assigned or directed
- May be asked to cover one-quarter, half-day, or three-quarter day assignments, as needed
- May be required to perform period supervision or cover vacant assignments as needed during the instructional day
- All other duties as assigned

Education
BA or BS Degree
Experience
- Proven successful classroom teaching experience
- Equivalent directly-related job experience, or any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND CLEARANCES
- Cleared Background/Fingerprint check
- Valid CPR and First Aid certifications
- Cleared TB assessment
- Completion of Ministry Safe Training

- Knowledge of how to maintain a climate conducive to student learning
- Knowledge of how to plan, prepare, follow, and present lessons effectively

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The employee is frequently required to sit and stand for extended periods, speak clearly, hear accurately, and move about the campus
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls, and smell
- The employee must occasionally lift push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, squat, kneel, jump, twist, or bend.
- Specific vision abilities include near and far vision within the normal range, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The typical working environment is a climate-controlled school classroom environment, with occasional exposure to an outdoor environment of varying weather conditions
- Depending on the subject matter being taught, there is potential exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, or airborne particles
- The typical noise level is quiet to moderate, but may occasionally be loud

Salary : $37,800 - $47,900
