What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Use Counselor position at Orchard Place?

The Substance Use Services program at PACE is looking for a Substance Use Counselor to conduct formal assessments, determine appropriate levels of treatment and provide individual, group and family sessions.

In this position, you will:
- Provide individual and group treatment services and individual case management for clients.
- Conduct evaluations/assessments to help determine client's clinical need.
- Facilitate substance use education classes.
- Maintain contact and communication with community resources to aid in client referrals and continuity of care.

- Earn a $19.00 per hour pay rate for temporary CADC certification or $21.00 per hour base pay rate for full CADC certification (adjustments made to compensate for previous experience)

The PSLF forgives the remaining balance on your federal Direct Loans after you make 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while workign full time for a qualifying public service employer (such as Orchard Place).
Sound like a good fit? A few requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services or related field and certified in Iowa as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) OR master's degree and licensed in Iowa as LMSW, LMHC, LMFT or LISW with experience in substance use treatment. Will consider candidate with temporary CADC with relevant experience.
- Knowledge of availability of viable resources within the community as an adjunct to treatment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Criminal and Abuse Registry checks completed. Must have valid driver's license.
