OrderPort
Bellevue, WA Full Time
POSTED ON 1/28/2026 CLOSED ON 2/25/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Front End Engineer (Manager) position at OrderPort?

Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior Front End Engineer (Manager) to own the architecture, quality, and evolution of OrderPort’s customer-facing web experiences, including Webstore and Web Admin. This is a hands-on leadership role combining deep technical contribution with light people management (approximately 80% coding, 20% management), supporting a small front-end team while remaining directly responsible for delivery.

This role exists to establish and maintain a cohesive front-end architecture, raise the quality bar for customer-facing experiences, and ensure web platforms evolve quickly, safely, and predictably as the business grows.

You will define front-end technical standards and patterns that are expected to be adopted across all customer-facing web experiences. You will lead by example in implementation, collaborate closely with Product and Design, and help develop engineers working on web experiences through mentorship, code review, and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Front End Architecture & Standards

  • Own the front-end architecture for all customer-facing web experiences, including Webstore and Web Admin.
  • Define and evolve front-end standards and patterns for state management, routing, session handling, accessibility, authentication flows, and API integration that are expected to be adopted across web experiences.
  • Establish and maintain reusable component patterns and shared libraries that promote consistency, maintainability, and efficient delivery.
  • Partner with Engineering Teams to ensure front-end needs are met through explicit, versioned APIs rather than shared code.

Web Experience Quality & Accessibility

  • Deliver accessible, performant, and reliable web applications that meet modern SaaS expectations.
  • Ensure all customer-facing web experiences meet WCAG accessibility standards and advocate for accessibility throughout design and implementation.
  • Identify and resolve UX, accessibility, and performance issues using data, customer feedback, and hands-on investigation.
  • Treat visual quality, usability, and correctness as non-negotiable engineering standards.

Product Delivery & Iteration

  • Own features end to end, including technical design, implementation, rollout, and post-launch improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Design during discovery and planning to shape solutions that balance user experience, technical constraints, and delivery speed.
  • Instrument features with telemetry and analytics to support learning, iteration, and outcome-based decisions.
  • Surface risks early and propose pragmatic tradeoffs that maintain momentum while protecting quality.

People Leadership & Enablement

  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership and guidance to front-end engineers.
  • Conduct thoughtful code reviews and provide actionable feedback that improves quality and supports skill development.
  • Support onboarding and contribute to hiring as the front-end team grows.
  • Model strong engineering practices, clear communication, and effective cross-team collaboration.

What Success Looks Like in the First 6–12 Months

  • Webstore and Web Admin are clearly owned, cohesive, and evolve under a consistent front-end architecture.
  • A new white label commerce store (configurable branding and theming across customers) is designed, built, and delivered using established front-end standards.
  • Product and engineering teams have clear front-end standards and patterns they can follow with confidence.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience building and operating production front-end web applications in a product-focused or SaaS environment.
  • Experience with Angular and familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, or Svelte.
  • Demonstrated experience applying WCAG accessibility standards in production environments, with the ability to identify and resolve accessibility issues as part of normal development.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, semantic HTML, modern CSS, and responsive design.
  • Experience integrating with APIs, managing authentication and session state, and working within complex product domains.
  • Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs, make pragmatic architectural decisions, and drive alignment across product and engineering stakeholders.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers, with interest in growing management responsibility over time.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with product, design, and engineering leadership.
