PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for supporting general warehouse operations and supporting local food recovery pickups.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Reason position exists is to perform these functions):
- Tracks food donations and distribution using established record and inventory systems, reports discrepancies to supervisor.
- Shipping and receiving
- Sorting of food donations for safety and categorization
- Support assembly of agency orders
- Support warehouse organization and inventory processes
- Ensures food safety, proper storage, rotation (FIFO)and temperature control for food products.
- Ensures the cleaning and sanitation of Fresh Alliance totes, trucks and equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Cross trained to provide relief support to other warehouse and delivery positions.
- Picks up food donations in a timely and courteous manner.
- Represent South Coast Food Share to donors and member agencies with knowledge and respect.
- Attend regular staff meetings as well as South Coast Food Share network meetings.
- Engage in ongoing program planning as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABLILITIES:
- Food Safety knowledge (Serv-Safe certified preferred).
- Ability to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment (hyster, pallet jack, other similar).
- Ability to perform strenuous and repetitive physical labor.
- Basic math operations (including adding, subtracting, percentage calculation, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to problem solve effectively.
- Ability to adjust to fast changing conditions while being flexible in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to adjust work hours according to program needs.
- Ability to work on various tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
- Familiarity with office material and equipment including, but not limited to; writing instruments, keyboard, calculator, fax, copy machine, computer, cell phone and telephone. Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel preferred.
- Ability to meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of one-year paid experience directly related to the position description is required.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills preferred.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Valid Drivers License required
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Geographic Area: Coos, Curry, and Coastal Douglas Counties Primary worksite: Coos Bay, Oregon.
- Primary Job Site: Food Warehouse
- May move items up to 51 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Occasionally sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Primarily indoors, in a climate-controlled environment; may not have access to sunlight. Occasional activities outside in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Potential for open workstations and cubicles with moderate to high noise; work from home where available.
OTHER:
- Reliable method of getting to work.
- Must be free from illegal drugs, may be subject to suspicion testing.
- Oregon Food Handler’s card or ServSafe® Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
- Forklift Trained within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
- Must be able to pass the State of Oregon Criminal Background Check.
- A current Oregon Driver’s License is required.
- Proof of automobile liability insurance @ $100,000/300,000 liability limits and maintain such limits.
