Title: Assistant Superintendent
Reports to: Project/General Superintendent
Job Overview: At New West Building Company UT, the Assistant Superintendent will support the jobsite Superintendent in providing direction and oversight of work performed by various work crews and subcontractors. The Assistant Superintendent collaborates with others to address issues of jobsite safety, constructability, client satisfaction, interactions with applicable building departments, and performance to the established schedule and project plan.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Help with pre-construction efforts when field focused information is required.
- Assist Superintendent to maintain and drive weekly schedule paths.
- Work with the Superintendent to coordinate and track design changes, schedule or performance issues, and deliveries of all supplier materials.
- Maintain and manage all site conditions to ensure a safe, neat and orderly job site.
- Monitor adherence to OSHA and NWBC safety policies.
- Facilitate the investigation of incidents of damage, accidents, injuries, or delays on Company construction sites to ensure that proper procedures and safety measures are being upheld and met.
- Use the project management software, Procore, to document observations and enforce project QA/QC standards throughout the entire building process. Then proactively drive and document corrections to avoid warranty or workmanship issues.
- Assist the Superintendent and subcontractor partners to troubleshoot constructability issues, distribute RFI’s and confirm work meets contact requirements.
- Keep daily reports. Prepare and submit daily reports via Procore and distribute to project team. The daily reports will become part of the close-out documents. The daily reports should document site conditions, subcontractor performance and any project issues.
- Assist project team with conducting project commissioning and closeout procedures while maintaining a positive relationship with the client.
- Track tools and equipment inventory and maintenance systems. Keep the Superintendent informed of needs and problems.
- Work with and mentor the self-perform field team.
- Assist with processing shop drawings and field verification of site conditions as needed.
- Perform some carpentry tasks as project needs, time, schedule and skills dictate.
- Complies with all applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws.
FLSA Employment Status: Salary, Exempt.
Qualifications and experience:
Required:
- Proficient with computers/tablets
- Knowledge of building codes and progressing building science.
- Capability to perform job tasks with confidentiality and in a professional manner
- Overall willingness to learn and grow
- Able and willing to commute to projects throughout the ‘Wasatch Back’ (Heber, Park City, Kamas, Coleville, Etc.)
Preferred:
- 2-5 Years experience with degree; 5 years experience without
- Background working with a General Contractor
- Experience as a Project Engineer
- Experience as multi-family housing
- Proficient with Procore
- Proficient in Microsoft Project
- OSHA 30
