Essential Job Functions
- Ten (10) or more years mortgage underwriting experience.
- 2-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Expert on NQM and Non-Agency (DSCR, Bank Statement, CPL, Asset Utilization and Jumbo)
- Knowledgeable in automated underwriting systems is preferred
- Knowledge with the Encompass Loan Origination System
- Proven experience working in a fast paced, high volume, customer focused wholesale lending environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Agency and regulatory requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively manage and drive a high level of production while delivering a consistently exceptional customer experience.
- Ability to handle competing priorities effectively and within established timeframes
- Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude
- Fraud detection experience
- Extensive appraisal review for complex properties
Essential Job Skills
- Manage assigned mortgage underwriting staff (8-12).
- Manage performance of proactive pipeline routines.
- Provide support for escalated problem resolution.
- Resolve underwriting issues raised by our sales partners.
- Work with Underwriting leadership to determine training needs aimed at increasing production volume or improving loan quality.
- Manage process changes or best practices, collaborate with VP of Underwriting, and effectively communicate to your team.
- Manage direct reports to effectively evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities.
- Perform training, and performance management process activities.
- Ability to manage in a fast paced, high volume, customer focused environment.
- Proven time management and problem-solving skills.
- Effective in counseling subordinates, providing input and evaluating employee performance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel
- Second level review experience of jumbo and NQM loans
- Exception review experience
- Keeping apprised of changes in Investor guidelines; integrating changes into daily processes
- Demonstrating time management skills for pipeline management and reviewing loan files within established service level agreements
- Preparing reports for Sr. Management
- Responding to e-mails and phone calls from internal and external customers within established service level agreements
- Review & resolve QC findings and trends
- Excellent external and interpersonal, communication skills (presentation, verbal and written)
- Ability to effectively manage and drive a high level of production while delivering a consistently exceptional customer experience.
