Role Description
Dr. Krueger, a private practice orthopedic surgeon specializing in Shoulder and Sports Medicine, is seeking a full-time Medical Administrative Assistant to join his growing team. This is an on-site position based at Ortho Missouri in Creve Coeur, MO, with a primary focus on supporting patients covered under workers’ compensation insurance.
The Medical Administrative Assistant will play a key role in managing communication with workers’ compensation adjusters, case managers, and medicolegal representatives, ensuring timely coordination of care and documentation. Primary Responsibilities
· Serve as the main point of contact for all communication related to workers’ compensation and medicolegal cases
· Coordinate with adjusters, case managers, and attorneys to schedule appointments, send medical documentation, and respond timely to information requests
· Ensure appropriate and timely completion of required documentation, including work status notes, medical records, and narrative reports
· Track authorizations and approvals for diagnostic studies, specialist referrals, physical therapy, and procedures
· Communicate with patients scheduling appointments and updating on their case status as appropriate
- Work within the electronic medical record (EMR) system, AdvancedMD
· Manage Dr. Krueger’s clinical and administrative schedule
· Help improve clinic efficiency and patient experience
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist with private health insurance patient scheduling and chart preparation
- Perform basic clinical tasks (as proficiency is demonstrated), including dressing changes and injection prep
- Obtain private health insurance authorizations
- Help maintain and grow referral relationships with both workers’ compensation and commercial insurance partners
- Cleaning and preparing room between patients
- Maintaining supply inventory, reorder supplies as needed
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
- Prior experience with worker’s compensation preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Empathetic, patient-centered approach to care
- Strong customer service mindset, especially in a healthcare setting
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to stay organized and efficient in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional medical training or coursework is a plus)
Eligible for very generous 401(k) profit sharing and able to deferral own money the first of the month after 60 days of full-time employment.
