Description
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) position performs direct patient care and customer service. Duties include but are not limited to assisting providers during preparation and provision of patient visit, interviewing patients, and obtaining reason for visit, room preparation, specimen collection and processing, medication administration, documentation in electronic health record and patient discharge. Facilitates communication between internal and external customers.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Graduated from an accredit Medical Assistant program, completed a United States Armed Forces medical services training program, or completed a non-accredited Medical Assistant program and passed the Certified Medical Assistant exam required.

Current Certified Medical Assistant certification required.

A minimum of 6 months of medical assistant experience working in direct patient care is required.

Any combination of education and work experience that meets the necessary skills required will be considered.

Must have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday.

1-3 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant working in either a Public Health or Community Health type programs preferred.

Must have experience with laboratory testing, phlebotomy, and with point of care testing devices

Understand the functions and associated workflow within Community Health/Public Health programs regarding community engagement, appointment scheduling, and report writing.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work well with others.

Able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.

Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Osage Nation Health System (ONHS).

Knowledge of HIPAA and the Privacy Act.

Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics.

Must always maintain confidentiality.

Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Requires good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing.

Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.

Must have a clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles.
