Sports Program Director
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the CEO, the Sports Program Director develops, plans, organizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates all bitty, youth, teen, and adult sports programs, staff development, financial development, and collaborations with community agencies.
Essential Programming Functions:
Including but not limited to: Flag Football, Basketball, Pickleball, Volleyball, and Racquetball
Essential Job Expectations:
- Develop, manage, and monitor the Sports Program operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.
- Coordinate the development and management of sports programs to meet the needs of the community.
- Position Osage Prairie YMCA as a leader in programs in the community through the following strategies: enabling and empowering the participants, public/private partnerships, and the development of a strong and stable volunteer base.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with school administrators, teachers, parents, students, and other community service providers.
- Manages departmental operations as assigned by the CEO, including up to payroll and/or paid time off.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Coordinates maintenance of equipment and evaluation of program facilities. Compiles program and/or goal statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs, unique events, or engagement activities.
- Leads and collaborates with the Staff and Program Committee meetings.
- Must walk through the facility and note any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries immediately.
- Able to demonstrate initiative in the absence of supervision.
- Must possess problem-solving, organizational, and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment.

- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
People Oriented: Empathetically listens and communicates for understanding when negotiating and dealing with conflict. Build relationships to create small communities. Effectively alters communications to the appropriate audience.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- Experience in the field or related field; 1 year
- Attain appropriate certifications for your department/job duties as directed by the CEO, including YMCA Leader and Team Leader Certification.
- Complete YMCA-provided CPR/First Aid/AED within the first 90 days.
- Complete Training: Child Sexual Abuse, Mandated Reporting, Active Shooter, and Disgruntled People before hiring.
- Complete and pass a comprehensive background check.
Job Information:
- Job Type: Full-Time Exempt
- Pay: $36,000-$38,000/year
- Schedule: Days, but nights and weekends are required.
