Job Description:
We are seeking a Lead GIS Architect with 15 years of hands-on experience to lead the design, integration, and implementation of advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for enterprise-level organizations. This role requires deep expertise in enterprise GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Enterprise, FME (Feature Manipulation Engine), PostGIS, QGIS, and cloud- based infrastructures (AWS, Azure). The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of spatial data architecture, automation via ETL tools, cross-functional leadership, and a passion for delivering scalable geospatial solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Architect and lead enterprise-scale GIS platforms to support geospatial data processing, visualization, and analytics.
· Design and implement cloud-native GIS infrastructures using AWS or Azure.
· Lead FME-based ETL automation pipelines for seamless data integration across spatial and non-spatial data systems.
· Oversee the migration of legacy GIS systems to modern cloud-based and open-source architectures.
· Integrate advanced GIS technologies such as ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS, and PostGIS for enhanced geospatial workflows.
· Lead the development of custom geospatial applications, tools, and dashboards to support business decision-making.
· Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate geospatial requirements into actionable technical solutions.
· Mentor a team of GIS professionals, developers, and analysts in best practices for modern GIS architectures.
· Drive innovation in geospatial data analytics and visualization, supporting domains such as infrastructure, logistics, and environmental planning.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or related field.
· 14–20 years of progressive experience in GIS architecture, geospatial systems development, and data integration.
· Proven expertise in FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) for complex data automation and ETL pipelines.
· Deep experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, and PostGIS.
· Strong cloud GIS experience with AWS and/or Azure services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Azure Maps). · Proficiency in spatial data modeling, geospatial analysis, and database management (PostgreSQL, SQL).
· Demonstrated success in delivering GIS projects at enterprise scale across multiple sectors (e.g., infrastructure, aerospace, energy, tech).
· Leadership experience managing teams and collaborating across departments.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour
