A well-established surveying and engineering firm in the Tampa Bay area is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations across a variety of land surveying projects. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a small field crew and delivering accurate, high-quality survey work across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
Lead and manage a field crew of 1-3 survey technicians
Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, utility, and construction layout surveys
Operate and instruct team members on survey equipment and field procedures
Ensure accuracy of measurements, field notes, sketches, and data collection
Read and interpret survey plans and construction drawings
Establish vertical and horizontal control, monuments, corners, and property lines
Enforce jobsite health & safety standards
Coordinate daily field activities to meet project schedules and deadlines
High School Diploma (or equivalent) or 3 years of relevant field experience
Strong experience in boundary, topographic, control, and construction layout surveying
Advanced proficiency with GPS equipment, data collectors, total stations, and levels
Working knowledge of Florida Surveying & Mapping standards
Proven leadership ability with a willingness to mentor junior staff
Valid Florida driver's license
Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs and working in varied outdoor conditions
Willingness to work overtime as needed
Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
Strong communicator with a positive, team-first mindset
Comfortable juggling multiple projects simultaneously
